Money Can Reunite Hong Kong

If I were to run for Hong Kong’s Chief Executive, I’ll win by a landslide margin, and gain unanimous support from the reflexively antagonistic legislators. Politicos from the left, right, centre, however confused or deranged, will rally behind me because nearly all registered voters will. Upon taking office, my one and only campaign promise will sail through Legco in the first month, after snipping a few red-tapes just for show, and seeking legal advice as a matter of formality. My plan is so simple even Legco members with sub-secondary education (and there are quite a few of them now) can understand immediately, and eagerly embrace. Finally, I will secure the blessing of Beijing. Don’t believe me? Read on for the beautifully simple details.

Currency War for Idiots

Why is it a big deal for the 0.001% to maintain the Dollar’s reserve status and petrol prerogative? And why should we commoners even care?

To answer the second question first, a currency war could end in physical ones, with missiles crisscrossing above head, and our children ruined in the battlefield without knowing why. Even if it doesn’t escalate into major military conflicts, having some idea about the rise and fall of currencies may help to reduce personal losses.

Ethos - A Highly Recommended Video

Ethos, presented by twice Oscar nominated actor Woody Harrelson, dedicated to the American historian Howard Zinn, is one of the best that I've watched.

This Youtube presentation is more comprehensive and coherent than most, including Zeitgeist, and presented in an easily understandable fashion. The only weakness is the final few minutes. The "solution" suggested seems far-fetched. If consumers could become wise and responsible en masse, they would change their political tragedy directly rather than exercising consumer power.

I suppose this contrived conclusion is a reflection of the sad and scary fact that there isn't any solution they could utter publicly; but they feel obliged to put forward something "constructive" at the end of this excellent production.

In a sense, the American people are the first victims of the Money Emperor. The USA, unknowing to most, is de facto occupied colony, providing labour and arms to fulfill the grotesque ambitions of the Real Powers That Be to rule the world from their invisible throne.

Here's the link: http://youtu.be/bxI1skgga1U  An enjoyable film to watch in any event.

US Government sues a bunch of coins . . .

The United States of America sue a bunch of inert defendants. Yes, they are as inert as any suspect could be, highly inorganic in fact. They are a bunch of coins. Ridiculous? Another conspiracy theory? At the bottom of this post is the civil docket for case No. 1:08-cv-00230-LHT-DLH which anyone should be able to look up from the Department of Justice site. Having gained some experience now in the Rule of Law, I am less surprised than I could have been.

I think the “defendants” have so far remained silent; but their prospect of self-defence does not look good.

The following is guest blogger Brynjar Danielsson’s piece on what happened.

By Brynjar Danielsson (23 Oct 2012)

I love America.  In spite of everything I still love America, because no matter what they do they can never kill this idea that is America. An idea that has shone as a beacon of light ever since 1776.  The world would be a darker place to me without this America, and I cannot conceive it.

But they are doing their damnedest to smother America now.

My own rude awakening came in 2007, during the primaries of the previous election, when I witnessed their dismantling of due process of the law.  That was the day they raided the Liberty Dollar, seizing all of its assets, computers, and having the company's bank accounts frozen - all without so much as a cease-and-desist. We had been supporting Ron Paul, and we were eagerly awaiting the delivery of copper coins that bore his likeness, so we could go around handing them out to people while spreading the word - the message of 'no more senseless wars and monetary madness'. They confiscated them all that day, nearly 2 tons worth of copper - plus all the other metals owned by the company. All we could do was to band together in collective defense, in a class action suit to protect our property and our rights. The case remains in a limbo to this very day, and we are not holding our breaths waiting for victory.

Through all of this we also witnessed the surreal as the empire struck back.  They had taken the absurd to a whole new level in a counter-charge as they effectively waged war on metals. I take a kind of perverse pleasure when I try to explain this to people, especially those in the legal profession, as I show them the case docket sheet; jaws invariably drop to the floor with priceless expressions on dumbstruck faces.  Hey, you get your kicks where you can these days.

Naturally the founder of the Liberty Dollar was sicced by the imperial attack dogs.  Mr. von Nothaus was pronounced a 'unique terrorist' last year for his troubles. Yet amidst this gloom there was a flicker of light, as media entities such as the New York Sun and the Wall Street Journal questioned this inevitable outcome. The Sun mused that if von Nothaus was branded a terrorist for advocating honest money, what would that make Mr. Bernanke...who even as I write is busy QE-ing all of us into oblivion, to the tune of 40 billion smackeroos a month. The Wall Street Journal had this to say in its own editorial: "...it's a loser's game to suppress private money that is sound in order to protect government-issued money that is unsound."  The truth is catching on and hope springs eternal.

As you head to the polls on November 6th, ready to vote for either the lesser or greater of two evils, for they really do amount to the same things - more senseless wars and monetary madness, haven't you had your fill of this farce? Mittens by the way seems to have the upper hand as his pals appear to control Diebold, while the latest indications are Big Money has abandoned Obama. Please consider the words of an all-American hero, when he wrote about his own awakening: " I spent 33 years and four months in active military service and during that period I spent most of my time as a high class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers.  In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism.  I helped make Mexico and especially Tampico safe for American oil interests in 1914.  I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped in the raping of half a dozen central American republics for the benefit of Wall Street.  I helped purify Nicaragua for the International Banking House of Brown Brothers in 1902 - 1912.  I brought light to the Dominican Republic for the American sugar interests in 1916.  I helped make Honduras right for the American Fruit Companies in 1903.  In China in 1927 I helped see to it that Standard Oil went on its way unmolested.  Looking back on it, I might have given Al Capone a few hints.  The best he could do was to operate his racket in three districts.  I operated on three continents."  Maj. General Smedley Butler, War is a Racket, 1935.

I love America, but I fear for her, and the world.

Why use credit cards? 干嘛要用信用卡?

Why use credit cards?
I like to use cash. Why use a credit card unless it’s to keep track of claimable business expenses, do internet shopping, or spend money that I don’t have at a criminally high interest rate?
They try to make me worry about losing cash. Sure, that might happen once or twice in an entire lifetime. But credit cards could also be lost, resulting in more hassle and greater potential losses if I fail to notice and report in time. The total value of credit card frauds due to lost cards is US$50 billion per year.
Are credit cards more convenient? Not if you live in the city with an ATM on every block. I also find it reassuring to have a couple of weeks’ worth of petty cash in my pocket: My money, in my pocket, for the time being. It feels good.
Most importantly, when using credit cards for no reason other than the persuasive power of advertisements, I know I’d be penalising the average small business operator (who must trim every penny to remain competitive), and benefit banks who have done ZILCH in the transaction except sitting there, waiting to take a cut from someone else’s labour.
They try to bribe me with bonus points. But bonus for what? Look at all that junk. Do I really need them? Am I going to spend like an idiot in order to move some of these unneeded items from the warehouse to my home?
Last of all, frequent use of credit cards puts me on everyone’s junk mail list, and leaves a trail of my whereabouts. And what if my ass caught fire in the next financial kaboom? With all the plastic in my wallet, it might just give off toxic fumes.

Americans' Missing Trillions

I’ve never labelled anything a MUST READ; but I’m going to make an exception here. The following video (http://dailybail.com/home/there-are-no-words-to-describe-the-following-part-ii.html) is a MUST WATCH if you are puzzled by how they get away with the most rapacious scam in human history. The above hearing does not offer an answer to that. It does, however, reflect the extent of the helplessness of the American people. Unlike imperial subjects in the olden days, they’re supposed to wield control over their government. Evidently, that’s not the case.
Americans have no idea where their trillions (about $30,000 per US citizen, from babies to the near death) have vanished to since last September. Most are probably unaware that they have vanished. The Free Press has been keeping them occupied with war news, moral inadequacies of the rest of the world, terror-fantasies and sex scandals of conscientious young men and uncooperative old men (who allegedly forced their aging penises into resisting mouths full of sharp teeth).
Kids of the poor are murdering and torturing in Iraq and Afghanistan, getting destroyed in return. Some ventured into Libya to clear the way for the establishment of a Central Bank (does it occur to anyone that it’s an odd priority?) Unbelievably, many actually believe they are in Libya to save lives, to punish yet another dictator! The pliability of human denial seems boundless, and scary. When people must believe - out of ignorance, fear, or a lack of choice - a well-constructed cover is superfluous. Logic and reason are an elitist game, appealing only to a minority. In a democracy, they are negligible.
Observing contemporary mass denial in highly informed societies, one gets a chilling glimpse of how seemingly impossible atrocities happened in history, and will continue to happen in the future.

Currency War (II) - Refugees

The last Financial Analysis I read might have been in the 1980’s; so why am I writing about something I have neither interest nor knowledge on? Well, since there’s supposed to be a currency invasion out there, I should prepare myself for being a refugee just in case. Like all war victims throughout history, I want to find ways to better my chance of survival, and find out where the front line is so I can run the other way. All I’m doing now is to record my flight path for fellow refugees before everything has disappeared.
The market is booming out there. Oh yes, I’m not one bit surprised, but won’t even blame it on foresight this time. My engineering background told me it will happen: It’s mass balance. Like gravity, it’s unavoidable. A friend had put it in more user-friendly terms: There’re unlimited funds out there going after limited equity. So, what do you expect? What else could have happened? If you had the power to create garbage money out of dirty thin air, and realise that your days maybe numbered, what would you do? Duh, what about turning them into assets, equity, tangible resources before too late. What about buying up the products of others’ hard work for a sparkling holographic dollar?
Does that mean the price of equity would go up forever? Of course not!  We don’t live that long. But it may go up for a very long time, with lots of short sharp plunges in between to jerk the breakfast out of people with a weak stomach. Ha, the financial coyotes will promptly lick it clean so don’t you worry about the sanitation consequences. These turbulent drops are required to prop up the show - hey! people are cashing in, seeking refuge in the dollars again! See? -  in addition to allowing Wall Street to get the most out of fake money. To get more juice out of an orange, it should be pressed multiple rounds, not just once. To real misers, even fake money should perform efficiently you know.
So, the market will drop like an airplane in turbulence, and similarly regain altitude in no time. That’s my fictional vision of what may happen. What it won’t do is burst like a bubble that it undoubtedly is, and stay burst. Because that would mean the coyotes finally dumping all the assets in the market, and holding on to a lot of cash that they could have just printed from the onset. What do you think they are? Stupid or something?
Now what can I do as a promising refugee? A few things.
Number one: I won’t leave anything in USD or other phantom entities directly related to the USD. My friends know I have not done that for more than a decade anyway. I have been leaving my meagre cash reserves in Australian and New Zealand dollars, and RMB as soon as we were allowed to purchase in Hong Kong. RMB is obvious: Name me another currency that can only go up, with a government that is not controlled by Wall Street and a bunch of elected crooks. Australian and New Zealand dollars enjoy some isolation, and de facto linkage to commodities that are always needed.
Number two: I plan my cash flow. Since my lifestyle is pitifully humble, I try to plan my cash flow for three years, and put the rest in equities and things that I can touch and sniff. This is an annual exercise. In the meantime, if equities balloon away because of money collapsing, I won’t sell just in case they fly away, and I’m left holding a bunch of empty balloon strings. If they plunge, I won’t sell because I know they will come back up, and go higher, propelled by steaming greed, following the longer-term curve drawn with the holographic ink of the biggest market manipulators in the history of the animal kingdom. So, either way, I sit back and pick my nose.
Us war victims selling low is the one thing that the coyotes would love to see, and plan to happen. I’d just go Omm when all the bombing happens. Let them play shock and awe. I nap. I don’t believe it will stay down for longer than my cash flow period. If it does, a miracle has happened: I love miracles, so I’d dance and sing, rapturously praising the Lord.
Number three: To help cash flow, I only invest in things that yield a reasonable dividend. When it comes to stocks, I only invest in major Chinese Government corporations. Not because I’m a patriot. China will not let artificially created market tremours bring the share prices of say the country’s banks and oil companies below par value, so that Coyotes can lap them up at a ridiculous discount. Fat chance. Scream! Call them “market manipulators” in the FT. See if I care. A more important factor is that State Corporations will not go bankrupt if you don’t live beyond the life expectancy allowed by the United Nation. That’s why the Royal Bank of Scotland, for example, are more stable in the free market these days. If all that fails to happen, if gravity has suddenly disappeared from earth, the worst case is to sit back and collect more than 10% dividend yield, the kind of return you’d be enjoying if you bought at the bottom of the financial tsunami.
Well, I’m kind of socialist, sometimes even vegetarian for a meal or two, so you shouldn’t share my delusions. Look at the opposite escape route: American companies are still trading at great prices. In comparison with say the Chinese Banks, they are run by reliable, honest, and transparent people who are law abiding, who understand corporate social responsibilities and care about sustainable development, democratic values, and human rights. They seem a better bet in each and every way. I would invest in them too if I were not suffering from chronic prejudice, clinical cynicism and incorrigible rationality.
See, the world is beautifully diverse, full of investment options. It’s all up to us, potential refugees of the Free Market, to find our own flight path. Good luck.

Distraction: Currency War

I did something unusual this morning: A lot seems to be happening around the currencies these days so I logged in to the Financial Times to check it out. I randomly came across an article by Martin Wolf, attracted by the caption “How to fight currency war with stubborn China.” Oh well, the same old tirade: China manipulates its currency (eh, not the US? Europe? Japan? and everyone else?) and a few wise words to advise how China may stimulate consumption (which, unfortunately, out of no option, it will).
Yes, there’s a currency war out there; there’s been a currency war out there. The Americans must find a way to get rid of their debts (or they won’t be able to pay interest with their entire GDP soon), and they won’t do it by working hard and saving. That’d be so un-American you know. But by hook or by crook, they must find a way to default in a self-righteous manner.
I don’t know how you plan your investments. I certainly never know how to plan mine. But I won’t be shocked if money simply evaporate one day, disappearing back into the thin air where it came from in the first place  . . . So, be careful!
Below are the comments I left with the FT (feed://inferno.t.ft.com/rss/165847-2edb8140):

“While humanity faces unprecedented threats against itself because of those who promote the artificial selection of Homo-consumer genes, the same people are now lecturing, coercing, pressuring, others to do the same, often with a moral tone. Let's stimulate the economy: BUY, throw, and buy more. Introduce Christmas stockings to China! Why not? It'd work for a day or two, and make sanctimonious people with, you know, stuff like work ethic in a free economy triumphant for just as long. Oh well, two days are a relatively long time for those with a political vision of a maximum of four years so . . . Alas.”
